Dr. Kayla Harris serves and functions in many capacities. She formerly worked as a Senior Executive Consultant to both the CEO and COO of the 60th Air Mobility Wing, Travis Air Force Base, California. In that role, Dr. K. advised wing leadership on issues affecting over 26,100 active duty, reserve, civilian personnel and their families. She was also responsible for ensuring that issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion were at the forefront of organizational effectiveness, developing policies and overseeing execution processes, implementing evidenced-based solutions, and providing support for talent recruitment and development.
In addition to providing multi-faceted organizations with strategic consultation, executive coaching, and career counseling with a focus on recruitment, selection, and placement; training and development; performance measurement; assessment of motivation and reward systems; organizational development; designing assessments for quality of work-life; and consumer behavior, Dr. K. serves as an Adjunct Professor and also, independently, engages in research on identity development with a focus on race, gender, and sexual orientation within multicultural contexts.
Although recognized for her expertise in the corporate and academic arenas, Dr. K. is also known for her Life Coaching and Consultation services. She is committed to social justice and challenging individuals to “do the hard work” of examining their own intersecting identities in the milieu of systemic and cultural barriers.
In 2007, Dr. K. graduated from The University of Memphis with two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Sociology, as well as, a minor in Spanish. In 2010, she obtained both a Master of Arts in Counseling, as well as, a Master of Education in Psychological Counseling (specializing in organizational, school, and multicultural consultation) from Teachers College-Columbia University in New York City. In 2012, she commissioned into the United States Air Force under the Health Professions Scholarship Program. Subsequently, Dr. Harris earned her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Counseling Psychology from The Pennsylvania State University in 2017.
